Lucky Lou Shoes

Carved wood shoes have been around for hundreds of years - we just made them fashionable (and comfortable)! A little history:  the original palm tree-and-hut carved wood shoes were made in the Philippines.  They’re called ‘bahaykubo’ (meaning ‘little village') and they were often brightly-painted.  They were also made as Souvenirs for Allied GIs to take home to their sweethearts during the World War II.  Unfortunately, the shoes were often small, narrow and uncomfortable, having no padding on the wood vamp.  Because they were difficult to wear and often ended up being put on display rather than being worn, they really were 'souvenirs'.   After years of searching, we finally found the descendants of the original carvers in the Philippines who agreed...
